When August 1 arrived, so did the snow and we enjoyed fantastic powder snow throughout the month. I had a special guest here from Canada and one special day we used a helicopter to ski all the way from Wanaka to Mt Cook and back, putting in 20 runs in the process. We even flew around Aoraki/Mt Cook itself for a close up look at NZ’s highest peak. We even threw in a swim on the West Coast and in an alpine lake while we skied some of the best skiing our region has over a 10 day single load charter. August still does remain a reliable time to visit NZ for good snow!
