ALPINE HUT SKI TOURS

Ski and snowboard touring within a stones throw of Aoraki/Mt Cook.

I’m offering touring trips to the Lady Emily and Falcon’s Nest Huts in the Gamack Range bordering the Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park. Theses mountains sit between the Jollie and Cass Rivers with easy and inexpensive helicopter access.

Both huts sit at an altitude of 1500m, with Lady Emily overlooking the upper Cass Valley and Falcon’s Nest tucked into the fork of Upper Tin Hut Stream. They are both located in a fantastic setting with neck straining views to the high peaks above and deep valleys below. Both huts are privately owned and are an ideal base for backcountry skiing and snowboarding with ready access to a range of slopes suitable for intermediate to advanced skiers.

The huts have firewood, gas cookers and bunk beds. The wood fire means there is good heating and dry gear in the mornings.

Lady Emily is bigger with two rooms sleeping a maximum of 10. Falcons Nest consists of 1 large room and 8 bunks. I usually try and book out the entire hut for our groups. There are no showers and the toilet is outside.
